Narrative strategy that builds power — and wins.

About me
I started as a tenant organizer building a base in upstate New York. I still approach communications the way I knocked doors: bringing the multiracial, multigenerational working class into the fight.
I work with organizations, coalitions, and candidates to build a strategy that actually organizes people — from developing the narrative to creating the infrastructure to executing the plan moment to moment. That work has helped elect a democratic socialist to Congress, pass statewide tenant protections, pressure seven NYC mayoral candidates to embrace a rent freeze, and establish tenants as a statewide political constituency.
My methods, including surround sound communications, move our base and the targets at the same time.

Experience
Claire Valdez for Congress
Helped elect a democratic socialist to Congress. Worked closely with a first-time federal candidate to translate her experience as a labor organizer into a story that resonates with unorganized, working class voters. Developed a narrative framework used across literature, digital, and volunteer prep, and put it into practice by pitching press and new media and scripting digital content.
Freeze the Rent
Carried one demand from field scripts to television to creators to political press through an integrated field and “surround sound” communications strategy, using moments in the mayoral race to put a rent freeze at the center of the conversation. Successfully pressured seven mayoral candidates to adopt the demand in the 2025 NYC mayoral race and mobilized over 22,000 tenant voters.
Good Cause Eviction
Led communications strategy at the Housing Justice for All coalition to pass statewide tenant protections, moving it from “controversial” to “essential” with hundreds of press placements across New York state. Trained dozens of tenant spokespeople statewide to connect their stories to the demand for change.
NYS Tenant Bloc
Launched a new organization and led its rebrand, managing a designer and a process that brought in coalition partners, allied electeds, organizers, and everyday tenants to inform the work and build shared ownership. Earned 100+ press hits in its first year, establishing tenants as a statewide political constituency.
Teaching & writing
I teach narrative strategy at the City College of New York (CUNY), including “Who Controls the Story? Narrative Power in Social Movements” and “Narrative, Messaging, and Power in the Housing Movement.”
I’ve trained hundreds of organizers and spokespeople in communications, media, and digital skills, including through the Advocacy Institute and Social Movement Technologies.
